What is CEREC®?
CEREC® stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. It is a sophisticated system that combines a digital 3D camera, advanced design software, and an in-house milling machine. This technology eliminates the need for messy impressions, temporary restorations, and multiple appointments, which were traditionally required for creating dental restorations.
The CEREC® Process: Dentistry in a Single Visit
Digital Scan
After preparing your tooth, we use a special camera to take a precise 3D digital image. This replaces the uncomfortable, goopy impression trays of the past.
Custom Design
The 3D model appears on our computer screen, where Dr Madden uses the CEREC® software to design your perfect restoration right in front of you. You can watch as your new crown or veneer is created digitally.
In-House Milling
Once the design is finalised, the data is sent wirelessly to our on-site milling machine. This unit then precisely carves your restoration out of a block of high-quality, tooth-coloured ceramic. This process typically takes only 15-20 minutes.
Placement
Dr Madden then places the newly milled restoration, checks the fit and bite, and permanently bonds it to your tooth.

Who is a Candidate for Dental Implants?
Most people with one or more missing teeth are good candidates for dental implants. The key requirements are good general health and a sufficiently healthy jawbone to support the implant. We will conduct a thorough evaluation, including advanced imaging, to determine if implants are the right choice for you.
Understanding Dental Implants
A dental implant is a small, screw-like post, typically made of biocompatible titanium, that is surgically placed into the jawbone where a tooth is missing. This post acts as a replacement for the tooth’s root. Over a period of several months, the jawbone fuses with the implant in a process called osseointegration, creating a strong and stable foundation. Once integrated, a custom-made crown is attached to the implant, completing the restoration.

The process involves several stages, including a thorough consultation and planning phase, the surgical placement of the implant, a healing period, and the final placement of the abutment and crown. Dr Madden works with top specialists to ensure the surgical phase is performed to the highest standard, and she completes the final restoration with an expertly crafted crown that perfectly matches your natural teeth.

What are Dental Crowns?
A dental crown, or ‘cap’, is a restoration that completely covers a damaged tooth. It is used to restore the tooth’s shape, size, strength, and appearance. Crowns are ideal for teeth that are broken, have large fillings, have undergone root canal therapy, or are severely worn down.
What are Dental Bridges?
A bridge is used to replace one or more missing teeth. It typically consists of two crowns that are placed on the teeth on either side of the gap (abutment teeth), with an artificial tooth (pontic) fused between them, literally ‘bridging’ the gap.
The Process for Crowns and Bridges
Thanks to our CEREC® technology, the process for a single crown is completed in one visit. For traditional bridges, the process involves preparing the teeth, taking an impression, placing a temporary bridge, and then returning for a second visit to have the final, custom-made bridge fitted and cemented.

Is This Treatment Right for You?
Clear aligners are effective for treating a wide range of orthodontic issues, including crowded teeth, gaps between teeth, and certain bite problems such as overbites and underbites. The process starts with a digital scan of your teeth to create a precise 3D treatment plan, followed by a series of custom aligners worn for about two weeks each (20-22 hours per day) to gradually shift your teeth into position. During a consultation, Dr. Madden will assess your teeth and bite to determine if you are a suitable candidate. Properly aligned teeth not only enhance your smile but also improve oral health by making cleaning easier and reducing risks of decay, gum disease, and jaw issues.
