What to expect during your first appointment
During an initial consultation, we review all of your concerns about your smile, perform a detailed examination of your teeth and mouth, and use the latest dental technology to learn as much as possible about your oral health. From all of this information, we are able to provide you with all of your dental care options so that you can have the most radiant smile possible. If there are areas that need immediate attention or pain it will be tended to at your first appointment. If there is no immediate problem, a treatment plan and quotation will be compiled and given to you.
A Full examination will include:
- Examination of diagnostic x-rays (radiographs): Essential for detection of decay, tumors, cysts, and bone loss. X-rays also help determine tooth and root positions.
- Oral cancer screening: Check the face, neck, lips, tongue, throat, tissues, and gums for any signs of oral cancer.
- Gum disease evaluation: Check the gums and bone around the teeth for any signs of periodontal disease.
- Examination of tooth decay: All tooth surfaces will be checked for decay with special dental instruments.
- Examination of existing restorations: Check current fillings, crowns, etc.
